The Search for the Perfect Evening Gown
Every woman loves to dress up especially for a very special occasion such as a party, an interesting date or a wedding. Women spend a lot of time effort and money in searching for the boutique that will have the dress that is just perfect for them. One’s distinctive style and taste always need to be kept in mind when shopping for a dress. All dresses don’t suit every body types. There are choices in long or short dresses, dresses with slits, with plunging necklines, halter necks, backless dresses etc etc. I find that the most uncomfortable woman at any occasion is one who feels she is wearing a dress that is all wrong for her. So be sure that the style you pick suits you physically and mentally. Colours too play a very important part in dress buying. The occasion and time dictates the colour of the dress you will buy.
Women rarely buy black for a day event however formal it may be. Day colours are usually the soft pastel ones. Evening dresses are the ones that are available in a riot of colours. There’s the basic black number that all women have in their wardrobes. Designers are successfully experimenting with a wide range of colours such as chic peach, silvery grey, electric blue, bloody red, etc. The style of dress decides accessories. That is, a heavy embellished or embroidered evening dress will be matched best with simple high heels and single colour clutch, and small earrings. A simple dress however may be accented with an exotic wrap or small, shimmery purse or just bold earrings to make the perfect fashion style statement. There are dresses for all types; designers are adding ranges in plus sizes and maternity dresses as well. So whatever size you may be there is sure to be the perfect dress for you out there.

Custom Tailored Dresses Made Easy Online By CHIC GOWN ? Interview with Lina Hui (President)
Samantha: How did the idea of CHIC Gown come about?
Lina: The idea of CHIC Gown actually originated from my very own wedding experience. After spending many exhausting months looking from one bridal boutique to another and flipping through endless pages of bridal magazines and online bridal sites, I found it very difficult to find my dream dress that was within my budget. This being the most important day of my life, I wanted a dress that I would feel special in and that I would remember forever.
I wanted to help other woman that are experiencing the same situation as I did, woman that could not afford the dress of their dreams and had to settle for something less, woman who are less fortunate then I was and do not have access to a custom dress tailor which I had and that they can trust to do a good job. So I have put together a team of very experienced dress tailors, expert bead workers and pattern makers each with over 20 years experience in re-creating designer couture dresses and evening gowns at affordable prices and the rest is… CHIC history!
Samantha: Is it true that your own wedding gown and the other dresses you wore on your wedding day was made by CHIC?
Lina: Yes, the same tailor that made the dresses for my own wedding day is now the chief tailor for CHIC. The dresses turned out so beautifully and I received endless comments on my wedding day. You can see the dresses that I wore in our CHIC Gown Gallery on our site.
Samantha: I see you stand behind your own product and I have to admit, the dresses turned out beautifully.
Lina: Thank you.
Samantha: So tell me, how does this whole Design Your Own CHIC Gown concept work?
Lina: Well, it’s actually quite simple. The customer visits our site and fills out our online form to request for a dress quotation. On the form the client will be able to load the pictures of the dress that she would like to have made. Once we receive the quotation request, our tailors immediately start work on preparing a quotation for the client; this usually takes 3-4 business days. If they client is satisfied with the quotation then we ask the client to send a small deposit, usually 20 percent of the total cost of the dress. Once we receive the deposit, the client can request for fabric swatches and trims that will be used in the final construction of the dress. Once all the details are confirmed, we then begin production of the final dress!
Samantha: That does sound very simple. What if the client receives the dress, but there needs to have re-sizing?
Lina: Should the dress not fit and needs to be re-sized; the client may send us the dress for a one free size alteration.
Samantha: Sounds great!
Samantha: Is it true that you do not have an in house designer?
Lina: That is correct; even though our dresses are all made to order, we do not have an in house designer to design dresses. Each client will have to send us pictures of the exact dress they would like to have made and we make the dress according to the pictures provided to us. This allows us to be able to provide lower prices to the customer by not having to hire an in house designer and we make exactly what the client wants.
Samantha: Lower prices sounds good to me, so how much should I expect to pay for a custom tailored dress from CHIC?
Lina: Well Samantha, each dress is very different; some dresses have more detail in the bead work, some dresses may require a specific type of fabric and some dresses just require more hours to construct. So I cannot give you a definite price, but dresses do usually start at $100 and we have had some clients pay up to $2000 for a dress.
Samantha: Does CHIC only make bridal gowns?
Lina: As well as making custom fitted bridal gowns, we also make bridesmaid dresses, prom dresses, maternity wedding dresses, evening gowns and we have even made a few red carpet inspired dresses for some clients.
Samantha: And how long does it usually take to have a dress made?
Lina: Again, since each dress is a one off; some dresses will take longer than others to complete. Simpler dresses can be completed in a fast as 2 weeks, while more complicated dresses are usually completed in 4-6 weeks. When we provide the initial quotation to our clients we will also provide them with a time frame of how long it will take for the dress to be completed.
Samantha: Seems simple enough.
Lina: It is really simple!
Samantha: I saw on your blog that you recently had a contest to give away a free custom made dress and there was a great response, can you tell me more about that?
Lina: Yes, we recently had a draw from that ended on Aug 1. It was too bad that there could be only one winner because there was such a great response. But don’t worry to all those who have entered and did not win this time because we will be having another draw in the near future, so be sure to check on our blog for future promotions and contents.
Samantha: Will you be posting up pictures of the contest winner and the dress that she has chosen to have made by CHIC?
Lina: Yes, the winner will be sending us pictures of the dress she has chosen for us to make. We will be posting those pictures on our blog, so be sure to check our blog to see her beautiful dress.
Samantha: Well, thank you Lina. I look forward to having a dress made by CHIC in the near future – and I hope you continue to be very successful. It’s a great concept, and great for woman who want to take part in designing their own dresses and defining their own image.
Lina: Thank you Samantha, we are already experiencing a great volume of repeat customers who are showing great confidence and pleasure in our dresses.

How to preserve your wedding gown in good condition as your big day?
Being a bride to be,when you tried your wedding gown on, it was a dream. Now that the wedding is over, you might not want to part with the perfect wedding dress you wore on your big day. If you want to keep your dress – and keep it in good condition – you’ll have to get it cleaned and preserved, which is the process for cleaning and properly packaging your wedding gown for storage.
For those who consider a good wedding gown preservation, some want to keep their wedding dress as an heirloom to be passed down to future generations, or they want to resell it. Some want it as a keepsake for themselves or will eventually make it into a Christening outfit or baby bedding for their children, according to the companies that preserve wedding gowns.
If brides don’t properly care for their wedding dress, it’s almost as if they’re throwing it away. After all, over time, stains will set, the gown may turn yellow, and the fabric could be damaged.
Wedding gown preservation costs anywhere from $150 to $500, depending on the level of service you require and the type of wedding dress you purchased. Usually, you bring or ship your dress to a wedding gown preservation company or dry cleaner that provides this service. Then, a staff person analyzes the fabric, beading, and other details to determine how to best clean it.
The cleaning process often begins with the hem because it is usually the most soiled. Most professionals scrub the hem by hand and spot treat any stains. The biggest culprits are grass, mud, perspiration and body oils, make-up, and sugar (from wedding cake or wine), say professional cleaners. Some of the most difficult stains to remove, say professionals, are Georgia red clay, self-tanner residue, and White-Out, which some brides use to cover up other stains that are already appearing before or during the wedding.
After the wedding dress is cleaned and either steamed or pressed, the cleaners properly fold it and place it in an acid-free archival chest with a display window. Sometimes, accessories, such as veils and garters are cleaned and preserved as well. Then, the package is returned to the owner. Depending on the cleaner you use, the waiting time could be anywhere from three to twelve weeks.

Wedding Gown Survey
Wedding Gowns Survey.
They say one woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure. This is certainly the case in today’s economic times. Whilst some would sneer at wearing someone else’s cast offs, there are others that are happy to search for hours to find a designer bargain or that one off accessory or pair of shoes.
Shopping or selling for preloved clothing on line is a great way of mixing up your wardrobe without sacrificing your precious time going out to the stores.
Once Worn Visions, surveyed over 1000 women in the age group 19 to 35 years.
Our subject was Wedding Gowns.
We wanted to find out how women felt about the idea of buying and selling a preloved or second hand wedding gown.
We surveyed a mixture of women some were already married, some were engaged to be married and others had no immediate plans to marry.
These were the results.
83% of all women surveyed thought that the cost of a new gown was far too expensive, but felt pressured by friends and family to be extravagant when purchasing a wedding gown.
89% Surveyed, said that they would definitely consider buying a second hand or pre loved gown. (as long as it was in good condition).
48% of these women although happy to purchase second hand would not tell anyone that they had bought a preloved gown.
95% of women surveyed that were marrying for the second time said that they would definitely buy a second hand or pre loved gown.
87% of these women said that they had over spent on their first wedding gown and had never looked at it since their wedding and wished that they had tried to sell it soon after their first wedding..
92% of women surveyed said that they would be happy to sell their wedding gown to recoup some of the cost of buying the gown.
As the economy slides deeper into recession women are becoming more budget conscious and are more open minded about purchasing preloved clothing.
Survey conducted April 2009 Melbourne Australia.

Why Buy A Discount Wedding Gown?
Discount wedding gowns are the rave in today’s world. That’s because they can offer so much benefit without the cost associated with a new gown.
One of those benefits is the volume that’s out there. You don’t have to worry whether there are any wedding dresses available because so many women get married every year and give up their wedding dresses that volume is always high. Also, many wedding dress makers sell either altered or knock off wedding dresses at low rates to stores and wedding outlet markets, which helps to keep the volume high.
Two, there are way more choices to go through. That may boggle the mind, but the truth is that many brides really don’t have an idea of what they might want in a wedding dress. Some people need to stay focused on a couple of types of dresses so they don’t get overwhelmed, but others need to look through hundreds of wedding gowns before they can even see what kind of direction they might want to go in.
Three, the odds are easier that they’ll find a discount designer wedding gown from even one season earlier, which would be harder to find at a more expensive store. Most high end stores only push the most up to date models of a wedding dress, but what if you wanted to buy a Reem Acra dress you saw 5 years ago? You’re more likely to find it in a discount wedding store.
And finally four, of course, the prices will be drastically lower. Well, at least compared to the prices of the dresses new. For instance, a Reem Acra dress tends to retain a lot of its value even used, so you might still have to pay close to $2,000, but that would still be close to 50% off the original price. Other top end designer dresses could fall under $1,000, which is phenomenal, and still other designer wedding gowns could be purchased for under $500.
There seems to be no real reason for not taking a look at discount wedding gowns. You could save a lot of money and end up getting exactly what you wanted.
